, at

NEoN Digital Arts Festival, returns for its fourth year in Dundee from 4th – 10th November 2012. This year’s programme brings you robotic tap dancing, spectacular visuals, augmented worlds and a whole lot more! As a partner of this year’s NEoN, Creative Dundee will be featuring more in-depth coverage over the next few weeks. Until then, some highlights…

Exclusively commissioned festival artworks include Bom-Baze, a city-wide augmented reality app created by visual artist Jaygo Bloom. German based Peter William Holden’s Finding Kinaesthesia exhibition, displays his famous robotic sculptures which combine sophisticated kinetics and choreography to transform prosthetic limbs into mesmerising moving machines – such as tap-dancing feet and synchronised swimmers!

NEoN also features Matthew Herbert’s critically acclaimed production – One Pig at Dundee’s Rep Theatre. You can read more about the “single farm animal’s life, from birth to plate” in our post here – One Pig. One Evening.

A special screening of Indie Game the Movie at Dundee’s DCA and the ever popular Pecha Kucha Night Volume 4 will provide creative talks on a diverse range of weird and wonderful subjects.

Exploring the theme of movement between physical and virtual worlds, NEoN is packed with talks, workshops, exhibitions, screenings and performance at many of the city’s favourite spaces; which is supported by a number of partners including Creative Scotland, Dundee Contemporary Arts, V&A at Dundee, Dundee Rep Theatre and the University of Abertay.

Donna Holford-Lovell, Festival Curator says, “Festival goers will be able to ‘roam’ in ways never imagined before. Their experiences will stretch across remote desktops and into virtualised applications, then back again into the physical”.
