Over the last eight years Interior Designer Sooz Gordon has been making a name for herself in commercial interiors. A graduate of DJCAD, Sooz’s work has recently been featured in the Scotsman and now she is bringing her Style Surgeries to her home city!

With a simple and honest approach to the world of interiors, Sooz wants to dispel the myth that using an interior designer is both intimidating and expensive. Her new Style Surgeries will provide aid for interior dilemmas to be shared and solved with practical advice and creative design ideas – giving individuals the creative confidence to go for it.  The first of a Sooz’s regular surgeries will kick off on Saturday 6th July.

Sooz started her career as an Interior Designer and also began developing homeware ranges too, she saw a gap in the market to produce designs that celebrated the rich history and accomplishments of Dundee: “My aim was to produce a collection of items that are timeless and embrace the fabric of a city, but have a modern vernacular. I am intrigued by Dundee’s local history, and its image problem. I was particularly interested in the undocumented, or forgotten places that we rarely stop to contemplate.”

From the Scotsman piece: “As transformative as her renovation has been, however, Sooz has made sure that this flat – which enjoys views over the river Tay – is still a celebration of her home city. Her love for the place has also inspired her to join the ranks of the creatives from this part of the country making waves on the design scene.”

Sooz’s attitude to being based in Dundee is spot on, as she tells the Scotsman: “There are so many talented people choosing to live here and who are using the power of social media to promote themselves rather than moving down south.”

“It is definitely an exciting time to be here and I would love to help put Dundee on the map in terms of interior design. It’s already known for being home to award-winning fashion designers and musicians – why not another creative field?”.

Indeed so and we’re looking forward to Sooz and fellow designers putting interior design truly on the city’s creative map!
