Alan Richardson PKN

Alan Richardson started his career in photography while still at school, taking pictures of the drivers and the action at local autocross events and getting them published in the local paper. He also took pictures of the star golfers who came to his hometown of Carnoustie to play in the Open Championship. On leaving school he joined a weekly newspaper group based in Arbroath as the darkroom boy and learned the trade from printing the pictures of other photographers. Finally freed from the darkroom he spent the next few years covering everything from car crashes to golden weddings. From Arbroath he moved to Aberdeen Journals working on the Evening Express and Press and Journal where the jobs included Royalty and the famous faces that appeared at His Majesty’s Theatre as well as the glory European Cup winning years of Aberdeen football team. Having won a few awards for his work Alan set up in business for himself in 1989 moving to Dundee where he is still based. His work regularly takes him all over Scotland occasionally to London and abroad. Video from Pecha Kucha Night Dundee Vol 9.
