As a UNESCO City of Design, Dundee based creatives can apply for opportunities with UNESCO cities across the globe. This includes creative cities such as those of; Design, Film, Literature, Music, Craft & Folk Art, Media Arts and Gastronomy which make up the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

The UNESCO City of Design Dundee team have launched a section on their website which will showcase any opportunities for Dundee based creatives to contribute to events, festivals and exhibitions in UNESCO Creative Cities. You can view the Opportunities page by clicking here.

An upcoming opportunity for Dundee based designers listed on the UNESCO website is the chance to submit proposals to feature at the annual Month of Design in Graz, Austria from 29 April – 28 May. Graz is joined the UNESCO cities network as a City of Design in 2011 – you can see a full list of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network by clicking here.

Month of Design, Graz – Open Call to Participate

Deadline 4th February

The UNESCO City of Design Graz team would like to integrate designers and creatives from Dundee into the programme and to build relationships between creative people working in other UNESCO Cities of Design.

The final selection is a curatorial decision which is made by the UNESCO City of Design Graz team.

Submissions are welcomed along the following themes:

Contemporary Interior Design

Core exhibition SELECTED 2017, duration 29 of April until 28 of May.

The exhibition presents international interior design trends, which this year will be shown in the Natural History Museum in the centre of Graz.

Various fields of design

Design in the City, duration 29 April until 28 of May.

All over the city, shops and companies are hosting presentations or installations by various types of designers. The exhibition in a commercial area enables designers to connect with retailers and distributers, ideally resulting in an expanding market for the exhibited products.

Fashion

Assembly Festival, duration 18-21 of May.

From exhibiting fashion and presentations in fashion shows to a Fashion Award – the programme of Assembly stretches all areas of fashion design.

Smart Design – Smart Production

This years’ programme focuses on Smart Design and deals with the current industrial revolution: the age of digital networking and its diverse tools of digital transformation. More info here.
