Can you write something funny? Do you want to be part of a Scottish online comedy writing community? Do you want to write Scottish Comedy for TV, radio or online? BBC’s Room to Write is coming to Dundee in May and would love to meet aspiring comedians! 

Room to Write is an exciting new opportunity to work with BBC Scotland’s Comedy Production team and to be part of a brand new BBC Comedy and BBC Writersroom initiative, where 10–20 comedy writers will work with them, and each other, in creating the next wave of Scottish comedy shows. Successful writers will get a rare opportunity to learn from some great people, including writers Jack Docherty and Susan Calman, and to be part of an exclusive online comedy writing forum where they will gain excellent feedback and have their work read by Comedy Producers.

They are starting by offering a series of free workshops:

Saturday 3rd May @ The Bonar Hall DUNDEE: 1100 – 1330

Sunday 4th May @ BBC Scotland GLASGOW: 1030 – 1300 (AM Session) – FULL

Sunday 4th May @ BBC Scotland GLASGOW: 1430 – 1700 (PM Session) – FULL

Saturday 10th May @ The Lyceum Theatre EDINBURGH: 1100 – 1330 (AM Session) – FULL

Saturday 10th May @ The Lyceum Theatre EDINBURGH: 1430 – 1700 (PM Session) – FULL

Saturday 24th May @ The Arts Centre ABERDEEN: 1400 – 1630

Sunday 25th May @ Eden Court Theatre INVERNESS: 1030 – 1300

Please note: In order to gain admission to one of these free workshops you MUST register to attend by emailing scotlandcomedy@bbc.co.uk, stating clearly which workshop you would like to attend. Due to the likely popularity of these workshops, please get in touch early to avoid disappointment as places will fill up fast!
