“Design isn’t what happens to sell the product, nor is it the labelling and the fancy pictures. Design is how the product started and why it works,” said Professor Georgina Follett, Director of Design In Action.

“Successful companies of the future will be those that embrace design earlier in their development process. In short, design can help the Scottish economy achieve a new drive and focus.

“The Scottish Design Summit will show how some of our best known brands and businesses value design as an absolutely integral part of their success and how others can incorporate it into their own ventures.”

Design in Action is a Knowledge Exchange Hub funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. Based within Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design at the University of Dundee, the project is closely-partnered with The Glasgow School of Art; Edinburgh College of Art (University of Edinburgh), Gray’s School of Art (Robert Gordon University) and the Universities of St Andrews and Abertay Dundee.
