Dundee’s first Instagram ‘instameet’ kicks off on Saturday 12th March and is expected to showcase the city to a global audience of 1 million.
Journalism has always been a pillar of Dundee business and an important part of the city’s story. Photo sharing social media application Instagram has just celebrated its 5th birthday, surpassed the 400 million user mark and become the 2nd most powerful social media platform in the world.
3 Instagrammer friends Ian G Black, Craig Anderson and Kristy Ashton have decided to combine their love of Instagram with their love for the city and host the meeting. Ian Black comments “I fell in love with the city 20 years ago on arriving from Aberdeen. Friends and family will all confirm I have taken every opportunity to big-up the successes of Dundee! There is so much to shout about, The V&A Dundee, DCA, McManus, Rep, Space, Scottish Dance Theatres, Duncan of Jordanstone Art college, our burgeoning computer and mobile phone games industry and so much more! We are looking at an unprecedented opportunity to showcase the city on Saturday March 12th”.
The Dundee #instameet team are partnering with Dundee City Council, the V&A Museum Of Design Dundee, Dundee born young Scottish fashion designer of the year Hayley Scanlan, Dundee Contemporary Arts and the Malmaison Hotel Dundee to help educate attendees on different organisations based in Dundee.
