Dundee Women’s Festival 2020

, at

Women will be making waves throughout Dundee and Angus to entertain, educate and enhance their own lives as well as those of others during Dundee Women’s Festival 2020 between 29 February – 14 March. This year’s theme “Women Making Waves” is a nod to the Visit Scotland Year of Coasts and Waters 2020. The Festival this year also marks an amazing 20 years since its inception.

Dive into the Festival on 29 February, when Scottish Government Minister for Older People and Equalities, Christina McKelvie MSP, is the keynote speaker at “Feisty Women Making Waves” – a charity tackling injustice of accelerated pension changes, and developing innovative new thinking and inter-generational solutions to tackle enduring discrimination against women of all ages.

Throughout the fortnight, events will see women make a splash in STEM, arts and crafts, transport, crime, film, comedy, storytelling, history – and much more.  Events will also take place tackling difficult issues including reproductive loss, ADHD, learning difficulties, issues with alcohol, mental health, and domestic abuse.

As always, the Festival spans International Women’s Day on 8th March, when an Arabic Arts, Crafts and Cookery Fair takes place within Dundee International Women’s Centre. The Festival waves farewell with an evening of live music from Make That A Take Records, featuring a variety of artists, bands, speakers, and performers from the UK DIY underground at Conroy’s Basement.
