The second in my weekly
showcase of Dundee creative talent, this week it’s illustrator Heather Brennan.
For the last 2 weeks,
drinkers at Glasgow’s Brunswick Hotel had a sneak peek into the eerie world of
illustrator Heather Brennan. Heather, a 3rd year Illustration
student at Duncan of Jordanstone, won an open brief competition to design the
brand identity and packaging for Zeitgeist, a black lager brewed by
Aberdeenshire Brewery, BrewDog. The supersized digital prints of her
Sheeple (half sheep, half people – obviously) are part of a touring exhibition
marking the launch of the beer.
Read more about the beer
here and here.
Her curious Sheeple People
appear on the labels and website for this unique beer which will be exported
world wide. Heather’s eerie and distinctive artwork for the brand has already
been exhibited at the London launch party in London Town as well as the more recent
show in Glasgow and will soon be off to Liverpool.
Haunting or Humorous? Her
bizarre characters are creepy, yet engaging, blending arresting images with
philosophical quotes. The stuff of weird nightmares and late night movies. Some
of her recent self initiated work was on show at the recent D of J Illustration
Exhibition. A curios visual and literary investigation into Darwinism and
religion, pickled baby anyone?!
You can see more of Heather’s
All this and she hasn’t even
graduated yet! Definitely one to watch.
Want your work featured
here? Email me and I’ll be happy to oblige.
All hell breaks loose next week as Dundee embraces the annual talent explosion that is the Duncan of Jordanstone Degree Show. To mark the occasion, I’ll be posting a special Degree Show Talent Show.
