Creative Dundee

We Amplify, Connect and Cultivate Creativity in Dundee.

What can Creative Dundee do for you?

Creative Dundee believes that culture and creativity are essential catalysts for positive change.

Since 2008 our work has been about better connecting the city – both recognising the incredible things that are made in Dundee, and encouraging an environment that inspires new collaborations to emerge. We lead collaborative projects which generate local, national and international opportunities for people and the city – to support Dundee’s strong creative ecology. Find out more about our recent work in our Annual Activities Overview Report 2021/22

Creative Dundee is committed to creating a culture where equality, diversity and inclusion are prioritised and promoted across all areas of our work and we are proud to be a Living Wage Employer.

Our many endeavours are supported by two key partners, Creative Scotland and Dundee City Council, who have been increasingly supportive as we expand and set our sights even higher. As a social enterprise we also generate income through trading activities, reinvesting profits back into creative businesses and the local community.

Amplify

We showcase the city’s creative scene to increase awareness and understanding of what makes Dundee a fantastic place to live, work, study and visit. We create and feature original content about creative people, businesses, events and opportunities – our digital platforms are well used by people across the globe, who are keen to find out what’s happening in and around Dundee. One of the many ways we showcase the city is through the 99 Things to See and Do in Dundee, our guide crowdsourced by people who live here and love it.

Connect

We create opportunities for Dundee’s creative talent to connect and find spaces where different disciplines, interests and expertise can meet and mix. Our events bring people from a huge variety of backgrounds together to share ideas, inspiration and experiences, and build a common vision and voice for the city. Events include PechaKucha Night – a popular, quick-fire global event night known for its friendly local audience, and Amps Breakfasts – a regular gathering for our Amps network to meet and share.

Cultivate

Through our programme we nurture and encourage people to develop skills, expertise and pathways within the creative industries. Fabric is our sector leadership programme, supporting present and future leaders to cultivate and hone their approach to community and creativity. We have also been growing our Amps community, a space for sharing, supporting and growing as a collective in the context of Dundee’s creative industries.

Collaborate

Collaborations are at the heart of how we develop projects in and out of the creative industries. We work with a wide variety of partners through the city, country and beyond. Visit our work for more about the projects and partnerships we’ve been involved in. We ensure the creative sector is represented in the city’s strategies and actions, such as the time we led on the development of the first Creative Industries Strategy for the city, co-designed with those working and studying in the city’s creative industries sector, as well as local and national agencies who support the creative industries.
