Below is a list of interesting organisations which provide support, networking and/or showcase creative talent throughout the local area. We will continue to update this section over time and if you would like your details to be added to the list, please email: news@creativedundee.com.

Dundee and Angus:

Creative Dundee is a platform to showcase, promote and connect talent across the creative sectors, in and around the Dundee area. Through highlighting creative happenings, innovative projects, connecting interesting people and hosting Pecha Kucha Nights, Creative Dundee is passionate about the great creative and cultural contribution Dundee makes to Scotland, the UK and the rest of the world.

Dundee WestFest is a community led initiative in the West End of Dundee which aims to celebrate the city by harnessing the talents, skills and enthusiasm of local people to create a memorable and enjoyable annual festival.

Angus Open Studios is an association of artists, craftsmen, and designer-makers in and around Angus, Scotland. They organise several exhibitions and other shows throughout the year. Their showcase, the “Angus Open Studios Event”, takes place during the May bank holiday. Includes artist directory in Angus.

Angus Crafts Association to foster and promote contemporary and traditional craft practices in and for Angus.

Fife:

Open Studios Fife – visit 84 artists, makers and designers in their studios in the North of Fife over the first weekend in May 2012. Includes a directory of artists.

Fife Contemporary Art & Craft aims to present the highest quality of contemporary visual art and craft activities to the widest possible public across Fife, with a significance extending to the rest of Scotland, to the UK and EC.

Perthshire:

Perthshire Open Studios has over 180 artists exhibiting in 122 venues across Perthshire. Includes artist directory in Perthshire.

Highlands:

HI~Arts provides a range of development and support sevices for those working in the fields of the arts and heritage, across the Highlands and Islands, and also elsewhere in Scotland.

Aberdeen/shire:

Creative Cultures Scotland has one goal – To help the Creative Sectors of the North East of Scotland. Help find opportunities, working partners, communicate with each other – and their audiences.

The North East Open Studios (NEOS) is Scotland’s Largest Open Studios event! An award winning, not for profit collective of artists, makers and galleries in the North East of Scotland who open their doors to the public yearly.

National:

Creative Scotland is the national leader for Scotland’s arts, screen and creative industries. It’s their job to help Scotland’s creativity shine at home and abroad.

Cultural Enterprise Office provides a range of business support services help clients build the skills and knowledge they need to clarify their creative ideas and turn them into flourishing enterprises. Whether their ambitions lie in the commercial or not-for-profit sectors, they can offer support to businesses and practitioners at any stage of development, from pre-start to those considering growth.

Central Station is a community where creatives can showcase their work and talk to peers. It’s also a place where to find opportunities. If you’re interested in creative talent, you can use Central Station to spot people you might want to commission or just keep track of.

Wasps believe that art can inspire, entertain, educate and transform people’s lives. Artists and arts charities have the unique talent and ability to create great art that can do this. Yet many survive on low incomes and struggle to make ends meet. So Wasps was set up to provide good quality, affordable studio space to enable artists and arts charities to carry out their work. They currently house 650 artists and 22 arts organisationsat 19 buildings across Scotland.

Interactive Scotland provides expert help and support for small to medium enterprises across the digital media sector in Scotland.

The Guide to Scottish Festivals 2012 was produced by Creative Scotland and The Listmagazine – carrying over 350 events to showcase a country that celebrates culture.
