Nicola Donnelly opened the doors of the brand new Time Lifestyle Boutique on Reform Street earlier this month. The store is stocking an eclectic range of products from known brands to up-and-coming Scottish designers.
From homeware, fashion accessories, stationery and design-led gifts, the products represent the store’s focus on good design, quality and affordable luxury for everyone.
Nicola says, “As a resident I have been enjoying the cultural development of city in recent years. The arrival of the V&A museum and the brilliant work being done on the city’s waterfront is doing much to boost the creative and cultural community as well as increasing the confidence of businesses in the city. I hope my shop can enhance the city’s retail offering and become a destination in itself.
I am also proud to have the opportunity to champion talented new Scottish designers such as Jane Gowans and Karen Mabon who are such great ambassadors of Scotland’s creativity and vibrancy”.
Nicola worked in retail while a student in both Dundee and Edinburgh, including a period in the capital’s formerly independent and world-famous department store, Jenners. Following graduation from the University of Edinburgh she pursued a career at Dundee University in administration and corporate communications. Following her wedding and honeymoon in March, Nicola decided that the time was right for her personally to pursue her dream of opening a shop. With inspiration drawn from London stores such as Oliver Bonas, Liberty and museum gift shops she set about creating a store that would meet the needs of local shoppers and visitors to the city.
This is Nicola’s first commercial venture, and she is confident that her home city of Dundee is the ideal base for the store.
Nicola plans to place Time Lifestyle Boutique at the heart of Dundee’s creative community by holding evening meet-the-designer events and giving local artists the opportunity for pop up retail space.
