As part of Dundee’s first Design Festival, Scottish Jewellery Week is to return to Dundee in the beautiful West Ward from 25th-28th May 2016 and bring an exhibition of 15 jewellers and silversmiths’, a live jeweller and a jewellery trail around the city. Organisers are now asking for Scotland based or Scotland trained jewellers and silversmiths’ of the highest quality to take part in Scottish Jewellery Week.

Exhibition

The exhibition will be a reflection on the relationship makers have with their hands. Each jeweller selected to take part will have their hands cast in plaster that will act as displays for one or two showpiece(s) that best describes the work and what they do. This will be exhibited within West Ward as part of Dundee’s Design Festival. The work will be exhibited only with links to the jeweller/silversmiths’ website/email address.

Live Jeweller

One jeweller will be asked to set a temporary studio (workbench and chair will be provided by Scottish Jewellery Week) in West Ward and be asked to create work that is either inspired by the building, Dundee or the festival. The jeweller will communicate to the public/visitors their ethos, their design process and their making process. The finished piece will then be auctioned off at the festival’s closing event or post Design Festival. The duration of this event is yet to be confirmed. A jeweller will be invited to take part in the event but please state in the application if you would like to be considered.
