Dundee Ceramics Workshop, previously Tin Roof Arts Collective, have been busy building a range of ceramics themed workshops throughout April and May. The space in Matthew Court offers members and the public a wide range of facilities including classes and workshops for all abilities, kiln hire and working space.

Introduction to Ceramics: Evening Course – 3 April

Lead by experienced potter, Ian Henderson, participants will learn a range of hand-building techniques such as pinch pots, slab building and coiling, as well as an introduction to wheel-throwing. There is also the opportunity to decorate and glaze your own creations.

A 7 week course starting Monday 3rd April from 6pm – 8.30pm. £180 for all 7 weeks, or £160 for Dundee Ceramics Workshop members (£35 with a student/concession rate of £25 per year). You keep what you make! Book your place by clicking here.

Mother’s Day Wheel Throwing Sessions – Wednesdays between 5 April and 31 May

Get mucky with your Mum! Come along and to the workshop and have a shot on the pottery wheel to throw and decorate your own pot over 2 sessions. Each session lasts for 1 hour and includes approx. 15 minutes tuition time followed by 45 minutes of practise.

Available on Wednesdays throughout April and May. Cost of £30 for 2 people which includes all tuition time, materials and firing costs. You keep what you make! Gift vouchers are also available which details your purchase and can fit inside a standard greetings card. Book your place here.

Claytime! Hanging Planters – 6 April

Join Dundee Ceramics Workshop for their new regular Thursday night ‘after-work club’ sessions which lets attendees experiment with clay, learn a new skill, and socialise. The first Claytime! session, lead by designer/maker Steph Liddle, will focus on slab building to create a hanging planter. She’ll focus on minimal shapes to create contemporary hanging planters ideal for house plants.

The first Claytime! will take place on Thursday 6 April from 6-8pm. The workshop is £25 (£22.50 for members) which includes tuition time, materials and firing costs. You keep what you make! Book your place here.

There will also be another 2 Claytime! classes – Porcelain Oil Burners and Incense Holders on 13 April, and Surface Decoration on 20 April. Both classes will be from 6-8pm and tickets are the same price. Contact tinroofdundee@gmail.com to book your place.

Mould Making and Slip Casting: Weekend Course – 9 and 23 April

Following on from Dundee Ceramics Workshop’s mould making workshop in February, Kevin Andrew Morris us back to host a 2-day masterclass in Mould Making and Slip Casting. During the 2 day masterclass, Kevin will introduce participants to the basics of mould making and casting using clay and plaster.

Sunday 9 and 23 April from 11am – 5.30pm. £150 and £120 for Dundee Ceramics Workshop members. Cost includes all tuition time, materials and firing costs. You keep what you make! Book tickets here.

Introduction to Ceramics: Weekend Course – 15 and 16 April

In addition to the evening course, Dundee Ceramics Workshop are offering a weekend course for an intensive introduction to ceramics. Lead by Ian Henderson, participants will learn a range of hand-building techniques such as pinch pots, slab building and coiling, as well as getting a wheel-throwing demonstration.
