Open Call: Hospitalfield Studio Residency

Artists sit around a large table in discussion in the Arbroath Courthouse studios.

Hospitalfield launches a new Studio Residency in the heart of Arbroath town centre.

Applications are now open for a new Studio Residency programme from Hospitalfield, in partnership with the Arbroath Courthouse Community Trust. The new programme intends to provide space to work amongst a community of artists, and form connections with artists practicing in national and international contexts, with support from Hospitalfield staff.

The Studio Residency is open to artists based in the DD postcode area, and will provide studio space to artists across two residency periods throughout June to October in The Old Courthouse Building on Arbroath High Street.

There are up to four places available on each Studio Residency programme, which will run concurrently with Hospitalfield’s Interdisciplinary and Flexible Residency programmes. The DD Studio Artists will have to opportunity to participate in these programmes in a way that fits flexibly around their practise and other commitments – they could simply be using the studios, they could join for crits, or they can participate in communal meals.

Applications are invited from artists in the DD postcode who have a specific project, or period of work, to focus on and would find this time and space invaluable.

Requirements:
Artists based in the DD postcode region (including Dundee and Angus) over the age of 18 and not currently enrolled in formal education. The emphasis is on supporting artists based in the Angus and Dundee regions.

What’s included:

Residency Dates:
Studio Residency One: 20 June – 22 August
Studio Residency Two: 31 August – 31 October

Deadline:
Mon 30 May, end of day
