Soundbase Summer Slam

Applications are now open for this year’s Soundbase Summer Slam – a music-making project open to young musicians of any genre.

Soundbase Summer Slam is back! Applications are now open to young people aged 12-18 for places at this year’s programme in July at the Caird Hall. And, thanks to support from Creative Scotland’s Recovery Fund for Organisations, it’s free to attend!

Soundbase is a music-making project open to young musicians (of any genre) supported by a team of professional musicians and guest artists to develop skills in song creation, soundscapes, guitar playing, drumming, keyboard, collaborative music making, playing with a band and performance. You don’t need to have any previous skills or experience, just plenty of enthusiasm.

This year’s tutors include Paul “Lefty” Wright, Euan Ross, Callum Mackie, and Mary McInroy, who will help young people learn new skills to improve and explore their musical skills.

Two guest artists will also be joining the Soundbase team this year: Su Shaw (SHHE), who will introduce the young musicians to exploring soundscapes, and Scott Donald, a drummer and music technologist who has performed all over the world with his technology-infused kit.

As if that wasn’t enough excitement, the week-long programme culminates in a live gig in the Marryat Hall on Fri 29 July.

Places are FREE but booking essential!
