Dundee Design Festival is back, celebrating the 10 year designation of Dundee as a UNESCO City of Design!

This September, Dundee Design Festival returns featuring the work of over 180 designers all under one roof at Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc from Mon 23 – Sun 29 September.

Scotland’s biggest festival of contemporary design – celebrating the 10 year designation of Dundee as a UNESCO City of Design – will showcase new and existing designs in furniture, interiors, jewellery, homewares, craft, graphic design and apparel in a series of exhibitions and installations on the festival theme Multiplicity. Members of Dundee’s design community will feature across the programme with over 42 Dundee based designers including 14 DJCAD design graduates showcasing their work at the festival.

The 2024 festival programme includes:

• MATERIALISE: Large-scale immersive experiences from four of Scotland’s most exciting design studios – Timorous Beasties, Donna Wilson, Gabriella Marcella, AdesignStorie – in one giant space.
• BOOKENDS: A specially commissioned collection of 20 bookends designed and made in Scotland, and inspired by the adventures of pioneering Dundonian journalists Marie Imandt and Bessie Maxwell.
• HYPER-LOCAL: An international exhibition marking the 10th anniversary of Dundee’s designation as a UNESCO City of Design and showcasing a diverse selection of design objects sourced from across the global creative cities network.
• FRAMEWORK: A unique snapshot of contemporary Scottish design featuring more than 70 designers and illustrating the many ways design intersects with other artforms and industries.
