Events
- The Angus Festival of Makers is back with a fantastic array of workshops, exhibitions and open studios celebrating creativity throughout the county from Fri 1–Sun 31 May.
- Pop down to Canvas for Saturday Music Club – a relaxed and family-friendly monthly event programmed by Seth Bennet and Haystack Monolith to help celebrate Tayside’s music scene. Keep an eye on socials for the next dates!
- Discover the stories behind V&A Dundee’s latest exhibition with their next Curator Tour on Tue 26 May where they’ll also be joined by award-winning fashion writer and editor Iain R Webb.
- Be part of the Dundee Get Together on Sat 13 June! A day celebrating kindness and the richness of Dundee diversity – if you’re part of a community group, no matter how small, they’d love for you to take part in their parade and celebration – note your interest by Mon 11 May.
Workshops
- Use recycled materials to make your own collection of prints and learn the art of Collagraphy in a 3-week workshop at DCA Print Studio from Thu 14 May.
- Join Dundee Ceramics Workshop on Sun 17 May for an Introduction to Wild Clay – a hands-on, small-group workshop exploring how to find, test and process raw earth with simple techniques.
- Unwind after hours at McManus Mondays and learn to Up-Cycle Your Wardrobe with Dreamland Clothing’s Ruby Coyne on Mon 18 May. Bring along two neglected items from your wardrobe and give them a new lease of life!
- Join Chats and Crafts to meet new folks and get crafty with relaxed creative workshops like Scrunchie Sewing on Tue 19 May!
Opportunities
- The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival are seeking proposals for five Small Artist Commissions and a new Young Artist Commission in response to this year’s festival theme, ‘Reflections’. Applications close at 5pm on Fri 8 May.
- Verdant Works Museum are looking for folks interested in responding to two creative briefs for their In-Tay-Twined galleries – one for a short video in response to exhibition interpretation, and another for an artist to add detail to the gallery walls. Deadline, 10am on Wed 13 May.
- CHIP Collective are launching a new Mini-Comic series, MicroCHIPs! They’re currently accepting submissions for Issue #1: SPACE and are looking for 1-2 page comics covering fun facts about the topic. Submission deadline, Fri 15 May.
- Generator Projects are searching for two, collaborating Dundee-based artists for their fully-funded International Residency in Katastari, Greece! Applications close on Wed 10 June.
Exhibitions
- Celebrating it’s 20th anniversary, the Abertay Digital Graduate Show returns from Thu 14–Sat 16 May with its biggest exhibition to date – featuring more than 180 innovative projects from their creative final-year students.
- It’s time again to celebrate the success and creativity of this year’s graduates as the the DJCAD Degree Show returns for 2026 from Sat 23 May–Sun 31 May!
- Popping up in Original Copy Collective’s Micro Castle Street Window exhibition space is ‘Close Enough‘ by Zoë MacDonald – a meticulous, meditative documentation of life in miniature. Running throughout May and June.
- Visit ‘Making Sense‘ at the University of Dundee’s Tower Foyer Gallery until Fri 26 June, to explore a multi-sensory approach to exhibition making featuring alternative methods of interpretation and sensory artworks that were created to be touched.
Content
- Dundee game developer Lowtek Games have released a free demo of MASUKU, a new abstract puzzle game that started it’s life at a game jam!
- Before voting in the Scottish Parliament elections on Thu 7 May, take a look at CultureCounts Election Pledge tracker where they’ve gathered all party manifesto references to culture, heritage and creative industries, and key pledges that could impact the sector.
