The UNESCO City of Design Dundee team’s priority, recently renewed for the next few years, is to champion Dundee’s designers by promoting their talent, supporting their creative and commercial success and involving them in decision making.
The team are keen to involve, test out and check in with local designers to ensure their proposed activities fit with what local needs of a UNESCO City of Design.
Dundee is the UK’s first and only UNESCO City of Design, awarded the designation in 2014, and one of 31 cities of design globally who are part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
Join us at one of two practical, short workshop sessions facilitated by Creative Dundee, to explore how the design sector can be strengthened in/around the city. The date for both workshops is Monday 4th March – you can choose from either the lunchtime event, or evening event, both held in city-centre locations.

Who is this event for?
The event is for designers who are practising and studying across, but not limited to, product, graphics, fashion, interior, service, web, interactive, textiles, games, societal and other design related subjects.
You’ll be asked some questions when you sign up to the workshop, this is for the team to get a better understanding of designer’s practice being based in the city and we’ll share the anonymised findings at the workshops.
What do the workshops aim to do?
- Enable sharing of ambitions and priorities from The UNESCO City of Design Dundee team.
- Meet other practicing designers to better network the design sector locally.
- We’ll explore what support designers in and around Dundee need from this team, over the next few years.

This event is free, but reserved to designers who are currently practising or studying design related subjects. Light refreshment will be provided.
