We’re going to whisper this quietly: applications are open for Christmas art and design markets across the city. We know it’s only August, and most people’s minds are firmly on making the most of the last weeks of summer, but if you’re a maker there’s a good chance you’ve got one foot firmly in the present and the other striding forwards towards Christmas.

Whether you’re an established maker or someone just dipping their toes into selling for the first time, we’ve put together a handy list of open calls for upcoming markets so that you can focus on soaking up as much of summer as possible!

The Yard at Bonar Hall
Easing in with a September market to coincide with the start of the new university semester, The Yard will be popping at Bonar Hall on Sat 3 and Sun 4 September. They’ll have live music, a bar, and creatives from in and around the city. They’re down to their last few tables, so move quick and email Stine Hope if you’d like to join the fun!

V&A Dundee Festive Design Market
Organised by Tea Green Events, the V&A Festive Design Market is back for the third year. This time across three days! Launched in 2019, it has built a reputation as the place to go to shop directly from some of the best independent design talent from across Scotland. This year’s event will be held on Fri 25, Sat 26, and Sun 27 November and they’re accepting applications now from all design disciplines. Deadline: Mon 15 August, midnight.

CRAFTED at DCA
After a three-year pause (thanks Covid), CRAFTED at DCA is back! Taking place on Sat 26 November, they’re expanding into the DCA Galleries for their biggest market yet. CRAFTED is one of Dundee’s longest-established craft and design markets and has a loyal following of visitors. They welcome applications from both emerging and establish makers, working in any discipline. Deadline: Mon 29 August, 3pm.
