Sat 3–Sat 10 September 2022, Dundee Botanic Gardens
Nodal Collective are a newly formed artist-led collective based in the North East of Scotland spanning Montrose, Arbroath, Dundee and St Andrews. The three founding members – Guendalina Rota, Shannon Maitland, and Eleanor McGavin – are all graduates or current students at DJCAD who have a common goal to provide a space for critical and experimental dialogue, artists & thinkers development, and supporting emerging artists through the lens of collectivity.
They’re delighted to be holding their first event – ‘To Be Nodal’ – at Dundee Botanic Gardens from Sat 3 September to Sat 10 September 2022. The event name gives a nod to their starting inspiration – the exhibition ‘To Be Potenital’ curated by Sophia Hoa at the Cooper gallery, as part of The Ignorant Art School project.
Over the past three months, they have been working with a group of 18 artists to create work in response to the gardens and the research underway there. Join them on Sat 3 Spetember from 10am till 4.30pm for a day packed with activities inspired by all the gardens have to offer. The full programme of events is still to be announced, but you can expect: a welcome from Nodal; a reading from the Gudskool collective material; performances of poetry; scythe/natural weeding demonstrations; tea tasting; and gin tasting (made from the botanicals grown in the gardens). Accompanied by an array of sculptures, paintings, film, photography and sound pieces from the 18 artists involved, which will be mapped throughout the space to make an immersive and interactive experience.
