Creative Dundee

March Make/Share: In the Spaces We Make

Venue: The Beer Kitchen Dundee // Date: March 13 // Time: 7-8:30pm

Make/Share is a free monthly event which brings people together to gain a behind the scenes insight into their creative processes, held on the second Tuesday of each month, at The Beer Kitchen Dundee, from 7pm – 8.30pm.

Join us on Tuesday March 13th and hear short talks by four local makers about the processes behind turning their ideas into reality, and how living and working in Dundee influences their work. The theme for this month is ‘In the Spaces We Make’.

Speakers explore how their project or product has evolved, how they experiment, what their biggest challenges have been and how they were overcome. After the talks we have a short opportunity for any questions to the speakers, and for you to share your upcoming events with the group.

We’re delighted that The Beer Kitchen is our official sponsor venue for Make/Share and supports the event with a complementary beer or soft drink at arrival. Also, exclusively for Make/Share attendees, after 5pm you can claim a 10% on any food or drink at the Beet Kitchen!

You don’t need to sign up, just come along!

Dr David Martin

David is a lecturer in Life Sciences at the University of Dundee. Originally from London (with a PhD in Blood Clotting), he lived in Norway for 5 years before moving to Dundee in 2001. As a scientist, he’s keenly interested in how things work, primarily living things but anything goes. As an educator, he’s passionate about sharing knowledge and experience, and finding creative ways to do that. David has been a member of the Dundee MakerSpace for a few years where he makes gadgets – can we understand more about animals by modelling them? Can we understand more about our senses by replacing them? This isn’t ground-breaking research but looking for ways to close peoples eyes and open their minds to phenomena that might otherwise remain as sterile words on a page. Spoiler: there will be demo with pairs of goggles. Twitter: @bioinformagic | Website: lifesci.dundee.ac.ukdundeemakerspace.co.uk
