Next May The Big Lunch, an idea for the Eden Project made possible by the National Lottery, will bring together a team of walkers to visit and shine a light on thriving community projects right across the UK. Over two weeks, the team will set off on a journey across Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England to chit-chat with the nation and see extraordinary things that ordinary people do to bring people together where they live.
The Big Lunch brings neighbourhoods together in the street to meet, greet, share, swap, sing, play and laugh for no reason other than that we all need to. It connects people and encourages friendlier, safer neighbourhoods where people start to share more — from conversations and ideas to skills and resources.
Starting on Friday 17 May, four teams will step out on four routes, connecting people and communities as they find out how the nation is preparing for The Big Lunch. Are you ready for a challenge that could change your life? The walkers will need to be physically and mentally fit as this will be a hugely rewarding, but also challenging and demanding experience. If you’re a people person with a passion for community, and you’re not afraid to put both feet forward for The Big Lunch, this could be the perfect challenge for you!
