Arcadia Night 2021

Join Arcadia Night 2021 for an evening of micro-talks and a day of discussions from leading game designers and thinkers from across the industry.

On Thursday 16 December Arcadia Night 2021 will present a celebration and exploration of independent, alternative, and experimental play in games, space and culture.

During the day, from 1 – 4 pm, take part in Playable Cities an in-person workshop facilitated by Dr Lynn Love. Wrap up warm and wander around the city to think about how game design can be used to make the real world playable for all.

The workshop will explore our relationships with public space, discuss ideas for regenerating underused areas and draw inspiration from examples of reinvented spaces to think about how game design can be used to make the real world playable for all!

The evening will see an online event where leading game designers and thinkers from across the industry present insightful micro-talks from 7 – 9 pm. The line-up features 10 amazing speakers from across the industry and will be followed by an audience Q&A. The event is free, but make sure to book a ticket.

Guest speakers include; Play designer and lecturer at Abertay University Dr Lynn Love, Interactive film-maker Smart Hopewell, Game designer and Six to Start CEO Adrian Hon, Co-founder of Hyper Luminal Games and Game Developer Rob Madden, Freelance 3D environment artist Rick Hoppmann, Produced Moon artistic co-directors Leonie Rae Gasson and Melanie Frances, OKRE Creative Producer Jenna Al-Ansari, Game Designer and Creative Director Annie Grudeva, CEO of Game-Doctor Carla Brown, Artist and writer Laura E. Hall and all-round game Developer, Producer and Creator Georg Backer.

To close the celebrations Arcadia Night invites you to an interactive closing party in the Biome Collective Online Gallery!

This year’s Arcadia Night 2021 programme has been organised by Biome Collective in partnership with InGame Dundee and UNESCO City of Design Dundee. You do not need to be involved in the games industry to attend this event and workshop, they are both free and for anyone and everyone!
