We are very happy to let you know that 2018 marks 10 years of Creative Dundee! Right on the heels of joining Creative Scotland’s RFO Network last week, we’re celebrating the start of the Creative Dundee website all the way back in 2008!
That’s right, this means that we are now older than Instagram, the global economic crash and ALL toddlers. Since our very first post on the site, which started as a side project for Gillian Easson and Lyall Bruce, Creative Dundee’s values were set out pretty clearly:
It’s curious to think of all the things that have changed in Dundee and the world, and yet, how this accurately describes our work to this day. In this space of time Dundee has changed a lot, with new people and their festivals, projects, groups and programmes starting up. Some of them only for a short time and others that have become institutions in the cultural life of the city. It has been a privilege to work within this network over these ten years, connecting and amplifying creative voices.
Over the month of February we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary with little throwbacks like this, features about things happening in Dundee right now and our big birthday celebration at Pecha Kucha Vol.20! Please do share with us your favourite memories from our events and projects over the years, we’d love to hear from you!
If you are new to Creative Dundee, you may want to start from the Creative Industries Strategy, our RFO announcement, 99 Things to See and Do in Dundee, Make/Share, Original Features, Pecha Kucha Night Archives, our News Mail Out and so much more…
But we’ll leave you with a video of the first talk from our first Pecha Kucha Night, back in November 2011, featuring V&A Dundee director Phillip Long – a fascinating glimpse into a part of the city’s narrative all those years ago.
