Creative Dundee

The Little Law Hill…

Yes, we know Law Hill = double hill; but it’s also the name of the cute toy and little work of art which will be hitting the shelves in November.

During Dundee’s NEoN Digital Arts Festival 2010; visiting artist Akinori Oishi from Osaka, Japan, created some great illustrations featuring familiar places in and around Dundee – even including a sweet little Strathtay bus!

A collaboration between Akinori Oishi, Dundee based Fleet Collective and Creo Design emerged; and it was quickly established that everyone wanted to turn the cute illustrations into 3D creations. Over the last 6 months the 3 partners have worked together to turn Dundee’s most famous landmark, the Law, into a vinyl toy – in time for release and sale during NEoN 2011!

The toys are 5 inches tall and there is a limited run of just 60 toys being made. If you’d like to get your hands on this super exclusive product then make sure you pop into the NEoN pop-up shop (at Chamber East) during the festival, taking place 5-12th November.  If you’d like to note your interest in advance, then email: neon@northeastofnorth.com

We’ll be covering NEoN 2011 in more depth over the next wee while, but in the meantime wanted to highlight the Law toy and point to this good article on the festival and toy in Design Week.
