To accompany the rare Ten Drawings by Leonardo da Vinci exhibition at the McManus, there’s also the chance to attended this free event to hear all about the marvel of the man himself! Far more serious and worthwhile than my cheesy title suggests!
Martin Kemp is one of the world’s leading experts on all things Leonardo related, and through this session he’ll explore the way in which da Vinci’s art and science can both be understood as a remaking of nature, on the basis of deep understanding of cause and effect. He’ll also demonstrate how connections can be drawn between seemingly unrelated works like the Mona Lisa and the flying machine.
As author of the image, branding and logo book: Iconic Images from Christ to Coke; Kemp is Emeritus Professor of the History of Art at University of Oxford; has talked at a number of notable events around the world; and uncovered a real da Vinci last year which was previously dismissed as a fake – this is a pretty unique chance to hear from the master of the Master!
This event is brought to you by by V&A at Dundee, the University of Dundee and Leisure & Culture Dundee.
