Selling Dreams: One Hundred Years of Fashion Photography comes to Dundee at the end of this month. The exhibition, inspired by Irving Penn’s statement that his work at Vogue was more like selling dreams than selling clothes, features over 60 images from the who’s who in fashion photography.
Displaying works by the photography giants of the 20th Century, this exhibition is a spectrum of important historic and contemporary fashion photographs from the likes of David Bailey, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Edward Steichen and Helmut Newton beside the contemporary images of Corinne Day, Tim Walker and Steven Meisel, together documenting the past 100 years of changing styles.
As the home of the UK’s National Collection of the Art of Photography, the Victoria and Albert Museum brings its collection to the McManus gallery in celebration of the opening of the V&A in Dundee.
