Starting Out – Tuesday 18 February 2014, 13:00-17:00 at DCA.
This workshop focuses on operating, financing and making a living from your creative practice and the practicalities of starting a business.

What to Expect
A whistle stop tour of everything you need to know about setting up your creative business, whether you’re just thinking about becoming self employed or have already started and want reassurance you’re on the right track.
You will explore:
- defining your work: what you are offering and who you are offering it to
- establishing a price and value
- the costs you have to cover and setting a daily rate
- which legal structure is best for you: self-employment, partnership, company or other
- tax on income
- how to draw up plans and budgets
- how to start building your profile
This workshop is full of practical information, discussion and exercises so you can explore your ideas and share your queries. By the end, you’ll have greater confidence, a better sense of direction and a to do list.

Planning Your Time & Project – Thursday 23 January 2014, 13:00-17:00, at DCA.
This workshop will help you set a goal, plan a project and identify the resources you need to make it happen.

What to Expect
You will explore your use of time and be provided with tools to help you to get the most out of it. Having established your goal, you will have the chance to develop a plan and the opportunity to share your plans and ideas with other participants.

What You’ll Get Out of It
Alongside discovering your preferred ways of working, you will:
- gain simple time management tools to help you put everything in order
- identify what you are trying to achieve
- learn ways of plotting the steps to your goal and the resources you will need to achieve it
- get time to develop and share your plans
- discover different formats for presenting ideas
Most importantly, you’ll have a plan to work to and the tools to help you stay on track.
