Celebrating the creative talent Dundee has to offer, Ignite Dundee is back for its third year and includes graduate shows, exhibitions, talks and lectures, theatre, films, workshops and more between 16th and 31 May.
Each May Dundee buzzes with the young and developing talent working away in our city. Don’t miss the chance to see work by emerging artists and designers at the DJCAD and Abertay Degree Shows, or that of students studying at Dundee & Angus College.
The students’ work is complimented by a whole host of exhibitions: Navid Nuur at Dundee Contemporary Arts is an exhibition of playful conceptual art which will delight and challenge you; The McManus: Dundee’s Art Gallery & Museum is presenting a showcase of Scottish photography including work by Wendy McMurdo and Calum Colvin; and at GENERATORprojects you’ll find a selection of new commissions from recent Scottish graduates.
The city is home to Dundee Rep whose Ensemble is the only full-time ensemble of actors in the UK, and as part of Ignite Dundee they join forces with Birmingham Rep Theatre to perform Alan Ayckbourn’s devastatingly funny, poignant play Woman in Mind.
V&A Dundee is offering a taste of their future programme with a talk from onedotzero, the pioneering digital design and film organisation. You can also hear directly from the city’s artists, makers and designers at our Pecha Kucha Night.
You can experience performance outside of theatre with Bazaar at the Museum and unleash your creative side with an exciting array of workshops, including making your own silver ring with jewellery collective Vanilla Ink.
Visit the website: www.ignitedundee.co.uk for more information and look out for printed programmes around the city.
