Scotland’s treat store launches online

Flying the flag for home grown Scottish design, visual art and craft organisation, Fife Contemporary Art & Craft (FCA&C), has launched a new online shop, treat store specialising in selling high quality hand-crafted items.

treat store is part of the re-designed website, launching on Wednesday 22nd October and amongst the 10 treat designers, they include local makers, Mitchell & Black and Judy Scott Designs.

The new look site, designed as a ‘virtual venue’ is divided into three spaces and dedicated to FCA&C’s main activities – providing an information resource for artists ; a new online shop and the promotion of visual art and craft events across the area.

Well-known for their work supporting and promoting artists and makers, the dedicated team based in St Andrews has partnered with the best Scottish talent to offer a carefully curated selection of accessories, homeware and jewellery.

“Contemporary craftsmanship was high on the agenda when it came to selecting the designers for treat store,” explains Diana Sykes, director of FCA&C and a renowned champion of Scottish design and art.

“There has been a surge in demand for beautifully crafted items for decoration as well as every day use. The stumbling block can often be the time it takes to look for them – and knowing where to look in the first place. treat store will make it even easier to shop for these special and unique items.”

Ten designers-makers have been selected to launch the treat brand with a selection of hero products are: jewellery designers Ebba Goring and Jessica Howarth; textile designers Morag McPherson, Judy Scott and Laura Spring; knitwear designers Mitchell & Black, illustrator Gabrielle Reith (Small Stories), ceramicist Gavin Burnett and paper designers Louise McLaren (Crafty Lou) and Ruth Stiven.

Making the site easy to navigate, the resulting edit of over 60 items now available to buy are categorised into Accessories, Ceramics, For Women, For Men, Homeware, Jewellery, Stationery and Textiles.

treat store will also feature insights into the designers’ processes, work- spaces and backgrounds, aiming to enrich the shopper’s knowledge and appreciation of each individual and their practice.
