Over 1,000 recycled Dundee Marmalade jars lit up Caird Hall in anticipation of Dundee’s Christmas Light Night coming on Friday 14th November 2014, from 6-9pm.
Hundreds of people have roles to play in the festive celebrations, starting with a magical lantern procession which will make its way through Dundee City Centre to Caird Hall in City Square before the light switch on at 6.30 pm.
Many of the hand-crafted lanterns carried in the procession were made by local families during Creative Learning workshops at Baxter Park Pavilion and McManus Galleries.
This year’s event pays tribute to the River Tay and the part it has played and continues to play in the life of the city. A new street theatre performance called TIME and TIDE produced by Environmental Artist and Sculptor Kirsty Doig involves Dundee Dance Studio and members of the public who have been taking part in workshops to create a new performance which will complemented by projections and performed on the steps of the Caird Hall.
Also making its debut will be Share Square Dundee, where you can leave your mark in the form of a subtly colour coded ‘selfie’, with a story attached on an interactive grid projected on to the city’s walls.
Take a look at the project in the video below, visit this site so you can join in the fun by uploading your selfie on the night, and check it out outside Boots, across from City Square where people will be on-hand with the technology to help make your face come to life on the big screen building!
