Call for entries: Angus Open Studios
Angus Open Studios (AOS) are delighted to announce that submissions are now open for membership to the rapidly growing community of artists, craftspeople and designer-makers based in Angus, Scotland. Their annual showcase event, which sees a multitude of creatives open up their studios to the public, has been growing since its conception in 2011. The dates for the next AOS showcase event have been confirmed as 26 – 30 May 2016.
The annual event attracts many visitors who are keen to visit, engage with and buy from a diverse array of local talent – there is usually something for everyone’s tastes – from exquisite landscape paintings and soulful portraiture to funky textiles, gorgeous glasswork and beautiful woven willow. The range of items available for sale and to commission is extensive. AOS members are a wonderfully vibrant mixture of people – some of whom have been well established in their industry for many years, to recent graduates and new start businesses.
Many AOS members offer a further incentive to visit their studios by offering demonstrations of their unique creative processes, as well as workshops for a more hands-on visitor experience. It’s a great opportunity to support the thriving and vibrant local creative community: to buy local and come home with something unique and original!
AOS are particularly keen to encourage submissions from recent art/design graduates and early career creatives as well as those who don’t have their own studio space – many AOS members are willing and happy to share their space with others – this can be beneficial for both parties and helps to create artistic collaborations and successful networking. AOS would also like to emphasis that you don’t have to be an Angus based creative to get involved.
All artists, craftspeople or designer-makers in the Angus and surrounding area are invited to submit an application to AOS. If you are interested in taking part in Angus Open Studios 2016, and want to find out more get in touch with the team through their website. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2015.
