It’s that time of year, students are finishing up their studies and putting the final touches to their degree show pieces. Their hard work is in some ways coming to an end and in others, beginning a new era. We’ve rounded up some info on degree shows in the area so you don’t have to, check out what’s happening this month (in date order) and mark it in your diaries for an insight into Dundee and the surrounding area’s future creative scene.
The Abertay Digital Graduate Show is an interactive exhibition showcasing the very best digital creations from the next generation. Experience the innovative projects created by this year’s graduates and enjoy a unique preview into the future of game design, coding, digital arts and music production. The show features a wide spectrum of creative and technical feats. So come, watch, listen and play at the University’s world-renowned School of Arts, Media and Computer Games. #adgs2016

Slightly further afield but worth the journey, Perth UHI are hosting an opening night of their Slainte Show to celebrate the achievements of the 3rd and 4th year students of BA Visual Design and Communications. Held within Birnam Arts, “a cultural and creative hub at the heart of Highland Perthshire”, the exhibition will showcase evidence of the students’ diverse skills and interests from photography to illustration, animation to graphic design and more. An array of projects will include those inspired by Scottish cultural hotspots, scenery, food and drink while others evidence design’s ability to challenge with society’s views on complex topics such as water consumption, deforestation and dependency on technology.

Each year Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design Degree Show celebrates the work of emerging creative graduates. DJCAD has a reputation as one of the leading art schools in the UK and many of its students have gone on to become world-renowned artists such as Turner Prize winner Susan Philips and nominess David Mach, Louise Wilson and Luke Fowler. Around 250 final year students from 11 degree courses will showcase their work at the exhibition, which spans two buildings and 14 fours. The show encompasses fine art, design, film, illustration, jewellery making, and animation.

A display of Contemporary Art Practice, Textiles for Fashion and Interior Graphic Design and Illustration. The Dundee and Angus College end of year Art and Design show is an opportunity to celebrate the work of all graduating students and for people to see first-hand the creative talents being cultivated within the college.
