Creative Dundee

Tea and Coffee Will Be Served

In its 150th year of trading, J. A Braithwaite is a family owned and run independent Tea and Coffee Merchant located on Castle Street, Dundee.  The newest Nomas exhibition is a project by Will Knight, which seeks to carefully record the shop’s rich interior, a space that has evolved and adapted over time. The study seeks to sensitively capture the site as it is today. Between it’s past, and before it’s future; informing and enriching both.

Will Knight graduated in 2014 with a masters degree from Mackintosh School of Architecture, at Glasgow School of Art. After graduation, he worked in both commercial and creative Architectural Practices while pursuing drawing practice.

Nomas* Projects is a four window gallery space, based in 9a Ward Rd, Dundee, run by local artists, Cully McCulloch and Owen Daily. Cully talked to us about the current exhibition: “It has been a pleasure for me to work with Will on this project and to experience his research methods. The ways he talks about his work is motivating”.
