The Big Lunch

The Big Lunch is a simple idea – for a few glorious hours, cars stop, shyness stops and neighbours come together in the street to meet, greet, share, swap, sing, plan and laugh. In 2017, 9.3 million people took to their streets, gardens and neighbourhoods to join in for a few hours of community, friendship and fun.

This year, four teams of walkers each have embarked on a journey across the county to shine a light on some amazing groups and events that bring people together. The walkers will be making their way back to the heart of their communities in time for The Big Lunch on 3 June. The Scotland leg of The Big Walk finishes in Dundee, and Dundonian walker Angus Macleod will return having completed his epic 3-week walk from Morecambe finishing with his own Big Lunch, taking place at Discovery Point, Dundee.

Come along and celebrate with Angus and take part in his Big Lunch, and you can get your tickets here! Or you can head down to Slessor Gardens, with a blanket, a sandwich, your friends and neighbours and be part of a communal Big Lunch between 12 and 2pm on Sunday, June 3! You never know who you might meet.

On Sunday, June 3, no matter where or who you are, join millions of people and get together with your neighbours in a nationwide act of community friendship.
