Re-Formation: Street Art

Young people will take over Reform Street, painting the cobbles with vibrant colours and inspirational messages!  This is the culmination of an exciting project that has seen groups from across the city come together to express their feelings and passions, to inspire the community and create an uplifting atmosphere for all visitors.

The RE-FORMATION live event will be held on the weekend of 29th & 30th September, and the public is invited to come and share this exciting and inspirational moment in Dundee’s cultural calendar!

Ten community groups have been involved in this large-scale partnership project, aimed at celebrating and promoting young people’s ideas, skills and achievements as part of Scottish Government’s Year of Young People 2018.  A lot of hard work and effort has gone into the past 4 months; young people have worked with local artists to create designs that represent how they feel about matters that are important to them.  Themes such as equality, diversity, respect, ambition and inclusion are highlighted through art and words, with the purpose of promoting positive mental health and wellbeing to the wider community.

RE-FORMATION is an ambitious and exciting display that will be thought-provoking and influence hearts and minds!  Each group involved will have a 2x5m section of the street to showcase their artwork, taking over 30 metres of the pedestrianised part of Reform Street in a temporary art installation.

The project has been co-designed and delivered by young people and co-ordinated by The Corner.  And the amazing range of organisations involved in the partnership includes The Corner, Dundee East Youth Team, Hot Chocolate Trust, Tayside Council on Alcohol, LGBT Youth Scotland, Rock Solid, Young Carers, Dundee International Women’s Centre, Our Community Space (Hilltown), Morgan Academy and Harris Academy.
