For a second year, UNESCO City of Design Dundee will bring you a whole month packed full of design related activity at the Dundee Design Month!
The programme celebrates the diversity of design in a variety of events taking place right across the city – events, activities, tours, talks, workshops, and exhibitions profiling everything from product design to illustration, fashion to service design and lots in between. Within the month you’ll also be able to experience the excellent programme that is shaping up for Dundee Design Festival.
Amongst the many highlights, the month will have:
Learn more about Sister Corita Kent, a Catholic nun, activist, art teacher and innovator in print and text art. This relaxed lunchtime session combines a short talk and a creative activity. Bring your lunch and materials will be provided, plus plenty of tea and coffee to fuel your making.
Find out more about HMS Unicorn’s panel of professionals for a panel discussion introducing the conceptual, economic, artistic and cultural impact of museums embracing design and digital technologies.
Hundreds of young people aged 5-26 from Dundee schools, community and youth groups have selected a UNESCO Creative City to represent. They have been working hard for months creating artworks inspired by the culture, colours, textures and stories of their UNESCO Creative City that will be paraded in the city centre.
Pecha Kucha Dundee has a simple quick-fire format – speakers show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. Each person chooses their own topic – work, loves, hobbies or holidays. The night is a great way for people to meet and hear inspiring activities happening locally across Dundee and beyond. Always diverse and entertaining!
And much more…
The 2019 programme is the biggest yet and features designers, independent makers, academic institutions, cultural organisations and visitor attractions. Join us in celebrating Dundee’s Design Month this May.
