Children’s Art Week will be happening on Monday June 29 – Sunday July 19 and will see thousands of children, their teachers, and their families taking part in fun, creative activities at home and in schools across three weeks in June and July. Venues of all types and sizes are hosting online and remote activities that will help children and young people to be inspired, engaged, and entertained by art.
The NEoN CREATE:MOVE:CONNECT outreach team has put together a new creative pack for parents and children to create animated artworks together at home. Taking inspiration from previous NEoN workshops and past technologies, the pack explores historical methods and techniques that will bring your imagination to life. Featuring fun activities such as flipbook making, shadow art, and puppetry.
Over the past months, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how essential creativity and the visual arts are for learning, connecting and wellbeing. The free pack will be available to download from June 29 on NEoN’s website and a limited number of printed packs are being made available to Young Mothers living in Dundee.
This activity has been supported by Engage Scotland. Children’s Art Week is run by Engage, the National Association for Gallery Education and supported in 2020 by Arts Council England, Creative Scotland and Arts Council of Wales and The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust.
