Open Call is Now Closed
The Full Picture is a brand new Creative Dundee project that will commission 3 artists in and around Dundee to conduct short term research and create pieces in response to the barriers that exist in the creative industries.
As we experience the effects of the COVID19 crisis and a new recession, it is more important than ever to explore the hurdles that artists and makers face in developing a sustainable practice. We hope these commissions will shed a light on some of those issues.
Each artist will be paid £1,000 for the full project, which will include research and delivery of the final piece as well as attendance to 3 relevant development workshops from artists and communities who have created similar projects in the past, and up to 4 meetings with the Creative Dundee Project Lead.
In the months following the completion of the project, we will share the participants’ findings and create opportunities for conversations and commentary around them. The artists will retain intellectual property of any work they develop during this period.
Anyone can apply to The Full Picture, but we prioritise applications from individuals who have experienced barriers in the creative industries. Applicants can be practicing artists from any discipline based in and around Dundee, students are also eligible.
We want to hear from artists and makers in any discipline: writers, designers, game developers, illustrators, actors, performers, musicians, print-makers, comic artists, filmmakers, etc…
The review of applications will be conducted by a panel consisting of Creative Dundee team members and some of the organisation’s partners. The brief is open for individuals to bring their own interests and experience into their application, which will be assessed on their relevance to the objectives of The Full Picture, their past experience, ability to develop and deliver a months-long project, and interest in the role storytelling has to play in the city – through whatever form it might be done.
We will announce the chosen commissions on 17 September. The selected artists will be paid £1,000 for their participation in the project – 40% of which will be paid at the start and 60% upon completion and submission.
The deadline for applications is on 14 September 2020 at 9am at which a selection of applicants will be invited to an informal interview. Please forward any questions over to sam@creativedundee.com
