Opportunity: Musician in Residence

Opportunity for a Musician in Residence to respond to, and create work inspired by, the new Unexpected Garden space being developed by Dundee partners throughout 2022.

Dandelion is an ambitious creative programme demonstrating the power of collective action in a unique ‘grow your own’ initiative for modern times.

Commissioned by EventScotland and funded via the Scottish Government, it is Scotland’s contribution to UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK.

Rooted in Scotland, with an international outlook and sustainability at its heart, the Dandelion programme follows the arc of the growing season, from April to September 2022, and will culminate in hundreds of Harvest Festivals across Scotland.

Dundee’s contribution to the Dandelion programme will be delivered collaboratively by the University of Dundee and Creative Dundee.

Musician in Residence Role

This role is designed for a musician with some experience of, or an interest in developing, their participatory work. They will have an interest in working in outdoor growing spaces across multiple sites and engaging with those communities and cultures.

The Musician in Residence will create work inspired by the new Unexpected Garden that responds concepts of rhythms and wisdom at the intersection of people, plants and pollinators.

Applicants who live in Dundee or the wider Tay region are especially encouraged to apply.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

This is a freelance role: 20 days (or 115 hours worked flexibly across more days), plus attendance/performance/presentation at the culminating Harvest event on 10th and/or 11th September 2022.

Term: this is a freelance contract running from 1st April – 11th September 2022.

Fee: £4,368 (21 days at £208). There will be a small allowance available for local travel and subsistence.
