The Wardrobe: Grand Opening

Two people are on ladders outside a shop called The Wardrobe. They are both using dark blue paint to repaint the shop front.

Say hello to The Wardrobe, a new shop that encourages more people to reuse, repair, and share.

The Wardrobe, previously known as The Community Wardrobe, has a new location – and a whole load of new services to go with it! Run by Transition Dundee, The Wardrobe is a second-hand clothes shop with a difference. Inside you’ll find:

  • Second hand adult clothing
  • A selection of free interview and funeral outfits
  • Environmentally focussed books
  • Upcycling and repair workshops
  • Social crafting groups
  • A clothing repair service
  • Sewing machine rental
  • The collection spot for NeighbourFood Dundee
  • And much, much more in time!

With a strong focus on climate and community, The Wardrobe hopes to act as a place to learn all about climate change, what’s going on around the city and how you can get involved. They’ll also be hosting upcycling and repair workshops to help you build the confidence and ability to mend and prolong the life of your clothes.

Transition Dundee is a community-led social enterprise which aims to help make Dundee a more sustainable place to live, whilst bringing people together and helping those who are struggling, for whatever reason. It was previously known as Gate Church Carbon Saving Project, and was one of our six CULTIVATE partners. They aim to make Dundee a more sustainable, healthier and happier place to live through various climate focussed projects.

Find out about how CULTIVATE Creative Practitioner Jade Anderson collaborated with GCCSP and the Community Wardrobe to encourage people to think about their clothes and the memories they hold, in her project Wee Wardrobe.
