From Wed 22–Sun 26 May, Uppertunity are taking over the ScrapAntics Community Space at the Wellgate Centre for an inclusive arts festival celebrating the talent and creativity of their community. All of the art exhibited at the festival has been created by adults with additional support needs and anyone aged 16+ with a disability is invited to add their work to the lineup.
Alongside the exhibition, each day of the festival will feature creative activities, workshops and performances from the community with lots of opportunities to get involved. All events are free to attend with refreshments provided throughout the day.
Wed 22 May, 11am–4pm:
Opening day and meet the artists. Enjoy nibbles and welcome drinks, and the first viewing of the art.
2.30–3.30pm: Press Change exhibition and conversation with the Changemakers.
Thur 23 May, 11am–4pm:
Art activities for all, and time to play. Activities include painting, drawing, paper art, and jewellery making. Drop in.
Fri 24 May, 11am–4pm:
11.30am–12.30pm: Drama performance from Uppertunity’s members.
1.30pm–3.30pm: Drama workshop, including improv activities.

Sat 25 May, 11am–4pm:
12.30–1.30pm: Poetry workshop, learn how to write a poem and perform.
1.30pm–3.30pm: Open mic and poetry performances by anyone who wants to join and share.
Sun 26 May, 11am–4pm
11.30am–1pm: Music and movement workshop.
11.30am–1.30pm: “Adventures of the Little People” exhibition. A mini exhibition from children aged 5–10, showing art related to their imaginary journey through the universe.
Uppertunity are a charity working with individuals with learning disabilities, autism and mental health barriers through creative workshops, group and community work, mentoring, skill development programs, meaningful volunteering roles and social events.
