This November, take part in a global campaign that raises awareness and takes action against gender-based violence.
Worldwide campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is held annually from 25 November to 10 December, with a programme of activities across Dundee to create awareness and promote action towards ending gender-based violence.
Every year, the Dundee Violence Against Women Partnership (DVAWP) works to deliver awareness-raising events as part of this campaign. In 2024, their programme is centred around the theme “Imagine if Dundee said, ‘No More'”.
The programme will take place across the city from Mon 18 November, ending with Together We Stand: A Creative Call for Change on Tue 10 December.
Events include:
- Travelling Roadshow running at different spaces in the city from Mon 18–Thu 28 November with creative banner making sessions, dance workshops with Urban Moves, and information sessions.
- Converse and Create with ScrapAntics and DWA at this relaxed and welcoming coffee morning on Wed 20 November at the ScrapAntics Community Space. Enjoy a hot drink and a chat before getting creative and making placards for the Reclaim the Night March.
- Head to V&A Dundee on Mon 25 November to find out more about the work WRASAC do across the city and join a zine making session with NEoN.
- A Reclaim the Night March starting at The Steeple on Fri 29 November, creating space to demand that women be able to move throughout public spaces at night safely and without fear. Bring banners, placards, and your voice!
- Gather together for an evening filled with positive messages, hope and strength on Tue 10 December at Together We Stand: A Creative Call for Change. Tickets are free but booking is required.
