Fabric, our informal peer-learning journey, returns with the help of Dundee Changemakers Hub.

Are you looking to connect with people who share your values, in social and climate action? Do you want to make positive change happen within your neighbourhood or community? Alongside Dundee’s Changemakers Hub, we’re delighted to bring back Fabric – an informal peer-learning journey to share, reflect and imagine how collective action can shape a better tomorrow.

Bringing together 10 creative practitioners and 10 community organisers, this iteration of Fabric will focus on community climate action, giving participants the knowledge, skills, confidence and connections to fuel future work or projects.

Through a series of four day-long sessions from November 2024 to March 2025, Fabric will:

• create a safe(r) and inspirational space to meet, discuss and explore with other changemakers locally;
• offer time and peer support to reflect on your own strengths, ideas, and vision for the future;
• bring you on field trips to exciting places, to learn and get inspired from others projects;
• facilitate opportunities to better understand Dundee’s strengths and challenges, and create new connections across the city.

We want to hear from people who are invested in the future of Dundee, and applications are open to anyone who has made their life in and around the city, and is actively interested in social and climate action.

How to apply:

• Applications are open to anyone, regardless of the demographic you identify with, your job role, your creative practice or your role in your community.
• Applicants must be able to attend all four full-day sessions on Thu 21 Nov, Thu 23 Jan, Thu 20 Feb, and Thu 20 Mar.
• Complete the short application form with answers to the following questions:
  • What will you bring to this Fabric journey? Share how your work, creative practice or community involvement contributes to climate and social action in Dundee.
  • What do you hope to get from this Fabric journey? Share your motivations for joining and how it will benefit your work, practice or actions in the future.
  • Please share some words in support of your application from a friend or a colleague.
• All application questions should be answered as either a maximum 250 words of writing, or 2 minute audio/video recording.
• All applicants should also complete the Equalities, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) form.

Fabric will be led by Claire Dufour, Creative Dundee’s Creative Climate Producer. Claire has been developing and delivering Fabric since 2016, which aims to equip, connect and inspire people who want to make a positive difference in Dundee. This is the fourth edition of this collective journey, and many past participants are still actively connected with each other.

Dundee’s Changemakers Hub is being designed and delivered by a collective of five local community organisations: Transition Dundee, The Maxwell Centre, ScrapAntics, Uppertunity, and Creative Dundee. The Hub offers support, events, workshops and micro-grants to connect and amplify collective community action.

The Hub is part of a growing national network of Climate Action Hubs funded by the Scottish Government’s Climate Action Fund, which aim to build local awareness of the climate emergency, develop local plans, help groups take up funding opportunities, and contribute to a Just Transition.
