V&A Dundee and their Young People’s Collective bring together another inspiring programme of free events for Upstart 2025!

V&A Dundee open their doors to anyone interested in a creative career for this year’s Upstart: Creative Careers Festival from Wed 5 – Fri 7 November.

Co-programmed by the Young People’s Collective, Upstart brings together a programme of workshops, talks, making sessions and a live podcast designed around the theme of Regeneration. Join them to explore how creative practices can renew, adapt and sustain themselves—both for individuals and for the wider sector.

All events are free to attend but booking is required. You can also discover more online from V&A South Kensington, V&A East, V&A Wedgwood and Sheffield museums.

• How to: Make Light Work with Many Hands // 1–3pm, Robertson Studio
  A hands-on, experimental workshop with designer and technician Harriet Morley inviting participants to explore simple but effective ways of working together.
  
• How to: Write About What Matters // 3–5pm, Weston Studio
  A hands-on workshop exploring ways to write about what matters to you most and how to refine it through editing – from artists bios and statements to proposals and everything in between.

Thu 6 November

• Bus Tour of ‘Commissioned by YPC’ // 2–3pm, meeting at V&A Dundee
  Hop aboard for a guided journey through Commissioned by YPC — a brand-new trail of artworks installed across billboards, hoardings and public spaces throughout the city.
  
• ‘Commissioned by YPC’ & Volk Gallery: Launch Event // 3–5pm, Volk Gallery, Keiller Centre
  Join to celebrate the launch of Commissioned by YPC with Volk Gallery.

Fri 7 November

• How to: LoFi in the Age of AI // 11am–1pm, Robertson Studio
  Join artist and designer Zoe Gibson for a hands-on session in getting organised playfully, without relying on screens.
  
• How to: Print A Collective // 1–3.30pm, Weston Studio
  Dundee Print Collective join the Young People’s Collective for a workshop exploring the politics and possibilities of collective organising through the medium of print.
  
• What the Hat?!: Young People’s Collective Podcast // 5.30pm–6.30pm, Juniper Auditorium
  Join the live recording of the next episode of YPC’s ‘What the Hat?!’ podcast, with special guests SHHE and Riah Naief chatting tactics, strategies, connection, and the power of listening in building collective practice.
