- Vending at Volk Gallery from Wed 3 December! Illustrator Laura Darling presents ‘Life of the High Street‘ – a riso-printed concertina book of Dundee shop fronts, forgoing idealised nostalgia and playfully poking at the ‘Death of the High Street’ trope.
- It’s time for the last Blether of 2025! Don your festive jumpers and sparkles to join Elfie Picket and guests on Fri 5 December for a pre-Christmas celebration and a night of Scots music, poetry and more.
- It’s the most wonderful time of the year at Double Door Studios as they host their Festive Boutique on Saturdays, Sundays & Tuesdays throughout December. Browse and buy from an amazing line-up of local businesses including DDS’ resident makers.
- Dundee Radio Club want to hear from you as they get ready to return to the airwaves for their next Listening Festival in February 2026! They’re inviting submissions from anyone working and thinking with sound across sonic artworks, podcasts, music sessions, dj-mixes and more. Submissions close Mon 5 January.
Events
- Join Abertay University on Thu 4 December for a mesmerising film journey through Our Blue World: A Water Odyssey with a free film screening and panel discussion exploring water research and action in Dundee.
- Wet Tech returns on Fri 5 December for their next evening of live improvisation and experimentation in sound, image and technology. This month, they’re joined by artists from Ghent, Glasgow and Edinburgh!
- Get into the festive spirit with a Winter Music Moment at V&A Dundee! On Sat 13 December, Dundee’s premiere brass band will be filling the museum foyer with carols and yuletide favourites at two free, drop-in performances.
- Join ScrapAntics for their Winter Gathering on Sun 14 December. Head to their Community Space at the Wellgate for a chance to play, create, connect and share delicious food – free and open to all!
Workshops
- Philosophy Playtime continues each Wednesday evening in December. Join philosopher Dr Kathrine Cuccuru to explore ideas, compelling conversation, and playful philosophical prompts in the relaxed atmosphere of EH9 Espresso.
- Head to the ScrapAntics Community Space for their next Re/Shape workshop on Tue 9 December to make your own unique Festive Festoons from recycled materials. Open to all ages and abilities!
- Join Judith Davies and Dundee Ceramics Workshop on Sat 13 December for a three-hour workshop building Porcelain Cottages and create a little village to light up your home this winter.
- Start your winter holidays with Forgan Arts Centre at Yuletide in the Woods on Sat 20 December, and embark on a wintery woodland adventure with lantern making and delicious hot chocolate for the whole family.
Opportunities
- Jupiter Artland are looking for early-career, Dundee-based artists for their Jupiter+ Dundee Residency which will provide rent free studio space for 6 months with a stipend of £600. The residency is open to practitioners with no more than three years professional practice. Applications close midnight Fri 12 December.
- Collective’s new open programme, Time + Space, is offering early-career artists in Scotland learning, professional development and significant exhibition opportunities. There are two routes designed for different levels of experience and Collective will be hosting a Dundee information session with Generator Projects on Fri 5 December. Applications close at 5pm, Sun 14 December.
- Edinburgh Art Festival have launched PLATFORM – a programme of two 18 month residencies for early-career artists, providing the freedom and security to explore long-term creative development. One residency is reserved for a BPOC artist and applications close Sun 11 January.
- Neuk Collective have launched a new paid, year-long leadership and creative development programme for neurodivergent artists and creatives. Spectra will offer guided workshops, mentoring, support and collaboration across 12 months with two reserved spaces for BPOC and working class creatives. Applications close Fri 6 February.
Exhibitions
- Dundee’s Designer Christmas Trees are back with four new trees created by local designers and artists including Amps John Fairley, Hollis Crowe, Islay Spalding and Louise Forbes! Visit the trees while they’re on display at City Churches throughout December.
- There’s lots of artwork to see and purchase at Dundee Art Society’s Winter Exhibition, running until Sat 6 December and showcasing the huge variety of work created by their talented members.
- Now showing at the Lamb Gallery, From Clay to Kiln explores the evolution and legacy of ceramics at DJCAD with an exhibition curated by new collective Dundee Ceramics Showcase. Running until Fri 30 January.
- Last chance to catch Grace Ndiritu’s exhibition ‘Compassionate Rebels in Action‘ at Cooper Gallery before it closes on Sat 13 December. A powerful exhibition rooted in the transformative and celebratory power of activism and collective action.

- UNESCO City of Design Dundee have launched a fundraiser to support Dundee’s Covid Community Memorial Garden with tiered donation rewards for £20, £50 and £100 donations, including Corten steel bird ornaments and the opportunity to commemorate your loved one in the garden’s central artwork. The fundraiser runs until Fri 30 January.
- As part of their Creative Balance research project, We Are Here Scotland shares their collaboration with the Scottish BPOC Writers Network and three commissions exploring ‘Defining Our Space‘ – the physical, psychological, and cultural dimensions of creative space for BPOC individuals.
- Get a wee behind the scenes look at Dundee Rep’s upcoming Christmas production of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk‘ as they chat to the cast and team bringing this new musical (or moooo-sical!) to life.
- Writer Cheryl McGregor shares conversations about Dundee’s musical landscape with singer-songwriters Rhuari Campbell and Monica-Lucia Madas in a new piece exploring the city’s shifting music scene and planting seeds of optimism for its future.
