- Calling zine makers of all shapes, sizes and paper stocks – Dundee Zine Fest returns in March and submissions for stallholders are now open! Apply by 5pm, Tue 27 January.
- Dundee Heritage Trust are looking for a Dundee designer to create a special logo celebrating RRS Discovery’s 125th anniversary this spring! Submit your portfolio and quote by noon, Thu 15 January to be considered.
- In exploring alternative ways of knowledge exchange, philosopher Dr Kathrine Cuccuru is offering folks a mentoring support for creative practitioners in the form of a labour exchange. Find out more and get in touch with her if you’re curious.
- Step onto the Dundee Rep stage for an unforgettable Burns Night ceilidh, filled with lively music, dancing and plenty of Scottish spirit on Sat 24 January.
Events
- Head to Cake or Dice on Sat 17 January to celebrate the launch of the Comics Youth Trading Card Game designed by young people from across Dundee. You’ll receive free cards to trade and will have the chance to design your own!
- Join Dundee Changemakers Hub for the next Dundee SOUP event on Wed 21 January. This time they’ll be spotlighting and funding community projects in Lochee.
- Drop in and Play returns to DCA on Sat 24 January with local game developers sharing their newest projects, alongside the chance to get hands-on with games from this year’s DunDev teams!
- Wrap up warm and join Feminist Bird Club Dundee at Campy Growers for the Big Garden Bird Watch on Sun 25 January.
Workshops
- Explore the ways stories are preserved, forgotten, or reinvented at upcoming Poetry Workshop with writer Rebecca Sharp in the stunning surrounds of Arbroath Abbey on Sat 17 and 24 January. Open to writers of all levels of experience.
- The Acting Lab are back with their next beginner friendly Adult Acting course from Sat 10 January! Boost your confidence and start your acting journey with this fun and challenging course.
- Digital Skills Education are offering free places for their next What Creative Professionals Need to Know About AI course in February. Apply for a place to learn more about protecting your work and the wider ethical issues of AI.
- Connect, move and play as you explore your story in a supportive space led by ScrapAntics and Scottish Dance Theatre. Story in Motion is a free multi-artform 10 week programme, beginning Wed 21 January.
Opportunities
- Dundee Changemakers Hub have extended the deadline for their Youth Climate Fund Microgrants! Youth-led projects focusing on climate action can apply for grants of £500 or £1000 before 5pm, Fri 16 January.
- Business in Tayside are invited to apply to Regional EDGE, a funding competition aimed at identifying and supporting innovative entrepreneurial talent. Take part in an online application workshop on Tue 20, and apply by Wed 11 February.
- Hospitalfield’s self-funded Interdisciplinary Residency Programme is open to those working across the arts with an urgent project or research that requires time and focus in a supportive setting. Apply by the end of Sun 18 January.
- The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland are holding free Creative Gateways events in Dundee designed to inform and inspire young people 16+ curious about creative careers. Young people can join their event on Wed 25 February, and folks who work with young people can connect at an event on Thu 19 – register your interest online.
Exhibitions
- A taste of the rainbow to celebrate colour for CAPSoc (Contemporary Art Practice Society at DJCAD)‘s first exhibition of the year – an open call for members ends Fri 23 January ahead of the opening of Chroma at Canvas on Thu 5 February.
- The Graduates Show returns to Tatha Gallery from Sat 17 January, showcasing the works of seven talented artists including DJCAD graduates Hannah Benassi, Aimie Harding and Tom Speedy.
- Beyond Waste is the first solo show by Dundee-based artist and maker Sandra Junele, transforming 100kg of fashion waste into bold art that challenges how we define waste. Opening Fri 16 January at Perth Creative Exchange.
- Ahead of Garden Futures: Designing with Nature closing on Sun 25 January, join V&A Dundee for Indigenous Gardens on Thu 15 January – where three globally renowned authors explore how indigenous knowledge has shaped the garden as a space of care and collaboration with nature.
Content
- Nourish Scotland are bringing a Public Diner to Dundee in 2026! They want to hear what locals think about their campaign to create everyday eating places that make it possible to eat well without breaking the bank – share your thoughts via a short survey.
- 2026 brings dundee radio club’s second Listening Fest, and to support it in coming to life you can chip in a few quid to, or snag a reward from, their Crowdfunder campaign, with donations matched by Creative Scotland.
- Did you know ScrapAntics have studios? If you’re looking for studio space, they’re hosting viewings at Art Antics on Thu 15 January – send them an email to find out more and book a viewing.
- Support Dundee’s Covid Community Memorial Garden, led by UNESCO City of Design Dundee – contributions will help to create a greenspace for people in Dundee to go and reflect, connect with others and experience nature.
