Make Works, a factory finding platform for artists, designers and makers and Creative Dundee are bringing Maker Speed Dater to Dundee on Thursday 22nd October. This unique event provides an opportunity to have a conversation, learn about what can be made in Dundee and, who knows, maybe find that factory you’ve been looking for for months!
Hastened conversations, buzzers, score cards— Make Works and Creative Dundee are inviting 20 designers* and 20 manufacturers** to the same room, have a couple beers, and then get speedy networking. This a bit like speed dating, but for finding new projects and contacts to work with locally (and most importantly, Make Work!)
Find local metal workers, laser cutters, sackmakers, shellac suppliers, framers, mills, seamstresses, letterpress, water jet cutters, risograph printers, electronics, mould makers and slipcasters to name a few.
Check out this video from their Glasgow Maker Speed Dater to get a feel of what the night will entail.
This is what some of the attendees had to say about the last Maker Speed Dater in Glasgow:
“Maker Speed Dater provided a relaxed environment that allowed myself the opportunity to share my skills as well as learn from a range of other like minded designers and makers”
– Kevin Andrew Morris, Ceramicist
“I found the Maker speed Dater an innovate format and felt a real benefit from meeting both the designers and the other manufacturers in the room. I have gone to many networking events over the years with mixed success but this really was interesting and I would definitely go back.”
– Phil Brady, PR Print
The Maker Speed Dater Dundee takes place on Thursday 22nd October in Drouthy’s, Perth Road 7pm – 10pm. You can purchase tickets from their EventBrite here for £6 which includes a drink token for your first drink on arrival.
