Creative Dundee and Dundee MakerSpace open up the making process again with a festive twist, at Dundee MakerSpace’s studio, in the Vision building on Wednesday 9th Dec, 7-8.30pm!
To celebrate the final Make/Share before Christmas, we’ll have mulled wine, some cakes and tunes to accompany the night and all we ask is a donation of just £1 per item.
This time round the theme is ‘From Concept to Result!’ How do you turn an idea into reality? The journey of a project from idea to outcome – how it evolves, progresses, changes and transforms. How do we design prototypes or test protocols?
HEAR FROM MAKERS!
Make/Share is the chance to hear a few short talks by people about the things they’ve made and the process they’ve gone through to make them.
DEMO YOUR WORK!
We have space to show and demo your creations/ products/ processes, so please just bring them along on the night – we’ll have tables and a plug socket or two on offer if needed.
Makers speaking about their process this time include:
Joanne is a visual artist currently in her third year studying Fine Art at DJCAD. Originally from Ireland, she moved to Scotland to explore new environments and expand her creative practice. Joanne is working on a set of prints that have been developed alongside and in response to paper sculptures she created over a year ago. Although the idea was in place, an appropriate concept and opportunity was not. “Sometimes it is worth waiting for the right moment to realise a project.”

Rich will talk about the ins & outs and ups & downs of taking a hyper-local, super-specific magazine from idea to shelf. Deesign Magazine – Dundee’s first and only design magazine.

Sebastian is a researcher in the School of Science and Engineering (Computing) at the University of Dundee focusing on computer vision, machine learning, and ubiquitous computing. His projects explore how giving machines the ability to perceive and to learn can help address problems of social inclusion. Sebastian will illustrate his creative process in research on the example of an ambient fountain/ intelligent water cooler he developed in collaboration with fellow PhD students; their answer to the question “what would you make if you could program a set of water pumps?”
